Mizzou Arena joins Arrowhead Stadium as polling place for November election
Mizzou Arena will be a polling location for the upcoming November general election, becoming one of the largest voting centers in the state.
Missouri and the Boone County’s Clerk office announced Wednesday that the venue, home of the Missouri Tigers men’s and women’s basketball teams, will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the Nov. 3 election.
MU worked with Boone County to set up the arena to be a polling location. Social distancing and face coverings will be required for in-person voting. Elsewhere in the state, the Chiefs’ Arrowhead Stadium will be a polling place for some Kansas City residents.
Mizzou is also working to launch the SEC’s new Voter Education Participation Program, which assists college athletes.
MU athletes haven’t shied away from the polls. When protests blazed across the nation because of social injustice, the Mizzou football team held its own peaceful march from The Columns to the Boone County Courthouse.
The players wanted to join the discussion but wanted to back it up with action. After the march was over, 62 MU athletes registered to vote.
