Mizzou football picks up massive recruiting win in Indianapolis defensive end

While the Missouri Tigers were relatively quiet on the recruiting front for nearly two months, MU coach Eliah Drinkwitz’s program picked up a massive win Saturday.

Indianapolis defensive Kyran Montgomery announced his commitment to the Tigers, becoming the 19th pledge of Mizzou’s 2021 recruiting class. Montgomery is rated as a four-star prospect by Rivals and a three-star by 247Sports. The Tigers beat out Minnesota and Florida State for the highly-coveted defensive end.

Montgomery is the latest defensive line pledge to choose the Tigers, joining Travion Ford, Mekhi Wingo, Shemar Pearl, Jonathan Jones and Daniel Robledo. It’s clear Drinkwitz’s staff prioritized the position as it’s underperformed in past seasons. Montgomery is also the second Indianapolis-area recruit the Tigers have secured, along with three-star defensive back Daylan Carnell.

The Tigers continue their success on the recruiting trail despite the dead period and COVID-19 pandemic. As the Tigers keep landing commitments, they’ll have a chance to start off Drinkwitz’s time at Mizzou with a bang.

Here are the other 18 members of Mizzou’s 2021 class:
