About Mississippi (14-15, 5-11 SEC): The Rebels showed some spirited play midseason before a four-game losing streak, which includes the loss to Missouri on Feb. 18. Mississippi snapped its skid with a win over Vanderbilt, keeping it in the fight for the No. 10 spot in the SEC. The Rebels fought well against the Tigers the first time the two teams met, but fell just short. They’re led by Breein Tyree, who’s averaging 20.1 points per game. KenPom ranks them No. 92.
About Missouri (14-15, 6-10 SEC): The Tigers are coming off a close loss to Mississippi State, where shot selection down the stretch doomed them. They’ve played better basketball of late, but still need to finish the season strong for any shot at the postseason. Mizzou guards Xavier Pinson and Dru Smith have led the way recently. But returning Jeremiah Tilmon and Mark Smith are huge pieces as the Tigers look for a few more wins for their resume. KenPom has them No. 105.
Prediction: While it’s a game between two teams at the bottom of the SEC, it’s huge for conference seeding purposes. Mizzou’s looking to protect its No. 10 spot in the standings, which means the Tigers earn a bye. But Mississippi’s in the opposite spot, looking to vault up to a bye. It’ll be a difficult game for Mizzou to pull off, especially on the road, where it’s scuffled all season. We’ll say Mississippi earns a win on its Senior Day, but the Tigers are still in a prime position for an away win.
