Former Radford guard Dennis Parker Jr., a 6-foot-6, 215-pound senior-to-be originally from Richmond, Virginia, has officially signed a financial aid agreement with Kansas, KU coach Bill Self announced Monday.

“At Radford, Dennis proved that he was one of the better scorers in the country,” Self said of Parker, who last season averaged 18.3 points per game in earning second-team all-Big South Conference honors.

“He’s a more than capable shooter, with range. He’s got great size, and anybody that can get 53 in a Div. I game certainly has potential to get hot and carry a team in stretches. We’re very excited to add him to the mix,” Self continued.

Parker exploded for a school- and Big South Conference-record 53 points on 19-of-24 shooting (10-of-14 from 3 and 5-of-5 from the line) in Radford’s 107-77 victory over Coppin State on Dec. 14 in Radford, Virginia.

Parker topped the half-century mark in points while playing 33 minutes. He also had eight rebounds in the contest.

It was the most points scored by a Division I player in a single game in seven seasons.

Parker, who scored as many or more points by himself as eight college teams did that day, surpassed the old single-game school scoring mark of 43 points by Doug Day in Radford’s 107-100 victory over Central Connecticut State on Dec. 12, 1990 in New Bradford, Connecticut. Campbell’s Chris Clemons previously owned the old conference scoring mark of 51 points.

Parker — he played two seasons at North Carolina State, including 2023-24 when the Wolfpack reached the Final Four — hit 48.4% of his shots in his one season at Radford. He made 37.7% of his 3s.

Parker is the fourth transfer to join the KU roster this spring, along with Christian Reeves (College of Charleston), Keanu Dawes (Utah), and Leroy Blyden Jr. (Toledo). The trio joins a freshman class that includes 2026 McDonald’s All-Americans Tyran Stokes and Taylen Kinney, plus Davion Adkins, Luke Barnett, Trent Perry, Grant Mordini and Atticus Richmond.

KU returns Kohl Rosario and Paul Mbiya off last year’s team, thus has 13 players on scholarship. Two scholarships are available.
