Stokes, who is said to have a final three of KU, Kentucky and Oregon, was 0-for-1 from 3 and 3-of-4 from the free throw line. The 6-foot-7 small forward out of Rainier Beach (Washington) High School finished with two rebounds, two steals, no assists and four turnovers.
Future Missouri Tigers guard Jason Crowe Jr. scored 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting with three rebounds, one assist and four turnovers in 20 minutes. The Inglewood (California) High senior was 1-of-2 from 3 and 3-of-6 from the line. He hit 1 of 2 free throws with 1.6 seconds left in OT to give Team USA its winning margin of two points.
Future Arizona player Caleb Holt scored 24 points with eight rebounds and seven steals for Team USA. Future Michigan player Brandon McCoy scored 11 points.
Future MU player Crowe hit a midrange jumper to tie the game at 87 before Ikenna Alozie of Nigeria converted a layup with eight seconds left. With 0.6 seconds left, McCoy was fouled on a layup. He knocked down two free throws to send the game into overtime.
The World Team was led by future West Virginia guard Miles Sadler, who had 29 points, seven assists and four rebounds. Sadler suffered 11 turnovers. Future Arkansas guard Abdou Torre had 19 points and six boards.
Stokes before the game told recruiting analyst Krysten Peek that he would likely visit Kentucky sometime this week.
“Anytime after Hoop Summit, so be on the lookout for that,” Stokes said.
He’s visited Lexington before.
“It’s a different kind of coaching staff since the last time I was on campus,” Stokes said. “So just being able to go out there, talk to them, get to see what their plan is for me, just go out there and see what they’re talking about.”
Of KU, Stokes said: “Coach (Bill) Self and coach K.T. (Kurtis Townsend) and the rest of the staff have been keeping me in the loop with what’s going on, who they’re looking at (in portal), players, their development. My plan is to be in college for no longer than 10 months or less than that, eight months. So just being able to go there, having the coach put his trust in me, me put my trust in him, just to help me develop to be a great player.”
