Texas signee Addison Bjorn of Park Hill South named McDonald’s All-American
Addison Bjorn, a 6-foot-2 senior guard/small forward out of Park Hill South High School, has been chosen to play for the West team in the 2026 McDonald’s All-America game set for March 31 in Glendale, Arizona, it was announced Monday.
Also, future Kansas basketball and volleyball player Cydnee Bryant, a 6-4 forward/center out of Centennial High School in Corona, California, will play in the game as a member of the West squad.
Bjorn will play college basketball at Texas. She was a member of USA Basketball’s gold medal winning FIBA U19 World Cup team. She also won gold playing for the United States at the 2024 FIBA U17 World Cup and 2023 FIBA U16 Americas Championship.
At the 2025 World Cup in Brno, Czechia she averaged 6.0 points, 4.3 rebounds in six games for the 7-0 USA squad. She hit a pair of 3s and had 11 points and seven rebounds in 17 minutes versus China.
Bjorn is ranked No. 10 in the recruiting Class of 2026 according to ESPN and No. 11 by 247Sports. She chose Texas over KU, Iowa, North Carolina, UConn, Notre Dame and Duke.
“At 6-foot-1, she can fill many roles, from slashing wing to facilitating forward to a ballhandling matchup issue at the guard spot,” wrote Shane Laflin of ESPN. “She has also proven to be able to be the focal point of an offense. Her ability to switch between leading and supporting her team should translate very well from high school to college and beyond, and should help her see minutes early in college. Bjorn will be an interchangeable player who can pair well with current freshman Aaliyah Crump and star Madison Booker.”
Bjorn in Park Hill South’s season opener tied her career high with 48 points and added 16 rebounds, two assists and two blocks in a 57-51 win against Liberty North. She had 33 points and 16 rebounds in a loss to Quincy, Illinois.
She is her school’s all-time leading scorer.
“We are so excited to welcome Addison Bjorn and her family Darren, Karie, Jack and Carson to the 40 acres,” Texas coach Vic Schaefer said after Bjorn signed a national letter in November. “Addison is someone we have been recruiting for a long time now and it’s great to finally add her to our Longhorn family. She is a three-time gold medal winner with USA Basketball and has always been a proven winner, doing whatever her team needs her to do versus any given opponent.
“Addison will bring toughness, hard work and a competitive spirit along with an incredible skill set being able to score at all three levels. She can also play multiple positions, which will allow us to be very difficult to defend and allow us to continue to be a tough, physical and aggressive defensive team as well.”
Bryant is ranked No. 33 in the class according to ESPN. She is the No. 2-ranked center in the Class of 2026 and the No. 16 player in the country by Collegiate Girls Basketball Report. In volleyball, she is a middle blocker.
As a junior, Bryant helped Centennial High School to an unbeaten conference record in both basketball and volleyball. She was named the IE Varsity Girls athlete of the Year for the 2024-25 campaign.
She averaged 21.7 points and 16.8 rebounds per game, with 24 double-doubles in 25 games. Bryant’s father, D’Cean, played basketball at Long Beach State, and her mother, Sabrina Torres, played volleyball at La Sierra University. Her brother, Carter Bryant, was a first round draft pick of the San Antonio Spurs in 2025.
Cydnee will bring immediate size and physicality to our front line,” KU women’s basketball coach Brandon Schneider said. “She provides a paint presence on both ends of the floor but has the skills to step away and stretch the defense. Cydnee is a great rebounder, she’s very mobile in transition and can really finish through contact around the rim. With us graduating two post players, Cydnee is a critical addition to our program.”
KU volleyball coach Matt Ulmer said: “Cydnee is an elite athlete and an extremely determined competitor. She has big goals and the right work ethic to achieve them. She is going to make a big impact in both locker rooms and in the athletic department with her personality and ability to bring people together.”
