Could Flory Bidunga return to Lawrence — with another Big 12 school — next year?
Kansas center Flory Bidunga could be playing in Allen Fieldhouse next season — for a Big 12 rival.
After the heralded KU sophomore, listed at 6-10, 235 pounds, entered the transfer portal, several national reports list Big 12 schools Texas Tech and BYU as monitoring his status. Bidunga will go through the NBA Draft process while keeping his name in the portal.
247Sports analyst Travis Branham lists Michigan, Louisville, St. John’s and Duke as other programs who have Bidunga on their radar. He also listed BYU, while somewhat disputing the Texas Tech interest.
That’s notable because one 247Sports reporter has logged a Crystal Ball prediction for Bidunga to join Texas Tech, one of the top schools in NIL spending.
Bidunga is considered one of the best players in the transfer portal, coming off a stellar sophomore season for the Jayhawks. He was named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year and made the All-Big 12 first team.
He averaged 13.3 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game.
Bidunga is considered a second-round pick by draft evaluators, who note his offensive game has room for growth. He is one of five Kansas players in the portal from a squad that lost to St. John’s in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Jayhawks have no post players returning after the portal departures; incoming freshman Davion Adkins is the only center on the 2026-27 roster so far.
