KU redshirt junior forward Zach Clemence has announced his transfer destination

Former Kansas Jayhawks forward Zach Clemence, a 6-foot-11, 230-pound native of San Antonio, Texas who entered his name in the NCAA transfer portal on March 28, has decided to continue his basketball career at Texas A&M.

A redshirt junior, Clemence announced his decision Sunday on Instagram.

Clemence, who will have two years of collegiate eligibility remaining, scored 11 points total and grabbed 11 rebounds while playing in eight games during an injury-shortened 2024-25 season.

He previously entered the portal on March 23, 2023 and then chose UC Santa Barbara as a transfer destination. He never played for the Gauchos, however, instead announcing on June 20, 2023 his intent to return to KU.

He elected to redshirt the 2023-24 season and also wound up redshirting this past season because of injury.

Clemence played in 24 games during KU’s NCAA title season of 2021-22. He averaged 2.1 points and 1.8 rebounds in 4.9 minutes per contest. He scored a career-high 11 points vs. Stony Brook.

In 2022-23, Clemence averaged 1.4 points and 1.3 rebounds. He scored a season-high 10 points versus Oklahoma and grabbed three rebounds in six games. He played in 20 games, averaged 5.7 minutes and was named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team.

Coming out of Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, Kansas, Clemence was ranked No. 50 in the recruiting class of 2021 by Rivals.com.

So far, KU has corralled two players from the transfer portal this offseason: Jayden Dawson, a 6-4 senior from Loyola-Chicago, and Tre White, a 6-7 senior from Illinois.

KU players with eligibility remaining who have entered the portal: Clemence, Rakease Passmore, David “Diggy” Coit, AJ Storr and Rylan Griffen. Coit announced a transfer to Maryland on Tuesday.
