KU Jayhawks to get visit from Princeton guard — with 2 triple-doubles last year

Xaivian Lee, a 6-foot-4, 180-pound junior point guard from Princeton and unanimous first-team Ivy League selection, is making a campus visit to Kansas this weekend, a source has confirmed to The Star.

Joe Tipton of On3.com first reported the news.

Lee, who is from Toronto, Canada, on April 4 entered the transfer portal with a “do not contact” tag, his agent, George Langberg of GSL Sports Group told Tipton.

Lee, who represented Canada at the FIBA Under 19 World Cup in 2023, averaged 16.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.2 steals per game this past season for Princeton (19-11). He hit 43.9% of his shots. He was 59-of-161 from 3 for 36.6%. Also he had 165 assists to 68 turnovers with 35 steals.

Lee, who has heard from Florida, St. John’s, North Carolina, BYU, Stanford and others, also is planning on going through the NBA Draft process.

“I started out playing basketball and baseball growing up,” Lee said in an interview at the NBA G League Elite camp in May 2024. “As I got older I started growing taller and wide, so I specialized in basketball. Princeton took a shot on me when not a lot of schools recruited me. I took it from there.”

He said his “feel for the game should translate well into an environment maybe where I’m not so comfortable. The Ivy League as a whole is a little underrated. We’ve got a lot of hoopers there. I’m just happy to be on this stage.”

Who is Xaivian Lee?

Lee, a three-time Ivy League Player of the Week in 2024-25 and a first team all-league pick the past two seasons, is one of three players in the country to record more than one triple-double this past season (he had two) and is one of six active players with multiple triple-doubles.

In Ivy play, Lee averaged 18.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.9 assists. He ranked second in the league in assists, third in scoring and sixth in rebounding.

Lee also ranked third in free-throw percentage (86.0%), eighth in 3-point field goals per-game (2.4) and ninth in 3-point percentage (37.8%). Additionally, Lee made game-winning 3s against Dartmouth on Jan. 18 and Columbia on Jan. 20.

Lee tied his career-high of 33 points on Jan. 18 at Dartmouth, hitting 12 of 19 shots (3-for-5 from 3 and 6-for-7 from the line) while also grabbing eight rebounds and four assists.

He recorded his second career triple-double on March 8 against Pennsylvania with 23 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds.

During his freshman year, Lee played on a Princeton team that beat Arizona and Missouri en route to a spot in the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16.

Back in January, he had 21 points, 11 assists, six rebounds and three steals in an 83-82 win over Rutgers and NBA prospects Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey.

“Any game like that, I’m up for,” Lee told the Toronto Star. “Obviously against two really tough guys, highly touted guys, it just makes it easier to get up for a game like this. I love playing against the best, with the best. So yeah for sure, we had this one marked on our schedule.”
