Kansas Jayhawks football team lands commitment from former Oklahoma State safety

The Kansas Jayhawks football program landed another big transfer portal commitment Friday in former Oklahoma State safety Lyrik Rawls.

Rawls, who announced his commitment to the Jayhawks in the morning, has one year of NCAA eligibility remaining. He played in all 12 games for the Pokes this fall, making 23 tackles and one interception.

Rawls picked KU over offers from UTEP, Florida Atlantic and other schools.

The former three-star recruit had chosen Oklahoma State over Kansas, TCU Ole Miss, and other schools when he was coming out of high school.

The addition of Rawls is significant as KU’s safeties group is seeing much turnover this offseason. Both starters, O.J. Burroughs and Marvin Grant, graduated and Kaleb Purdy entered the transfer portal.

Rawls is KU’s fourth recent transfer portal addition, joining Auburn defensive lineman Gage Keys, former South Carolina linebacker Bangally Kamara and Iowa running back Leshon Williams.
