KU football’s 2025 signing class has 4-star edge rusher & talented QB. Get to know them
It was a busy national signing day for the Kansas Jayhawks football program.
KU locked up 17 players Wednesday — 15 high school prospects and two transfers — in its 2025 recruiting class as the national signing period opened.
With the 72-hour national signing period remaining open through Friday, the Jayhawks’ 2025 class currently ranks No. 61 in 247Sports’ composite rankings.
Two of KU’s most significant commitments are those of high three-star quarterback David McComb and four-star defensive end Adrian Holley.
McComb could be KU’s quarterback of the future. The Edmond, Oklahoma, native picked Kansas over Virginia Tech, Memphis and others. He is ranked No. 533 overall in the class.
Depending on what happens with KU quarterback Jalon Daniels, McComb could battle returners Isaiah Marshall (2024 3-star recruit) and Cole Ballard for the starting or backup job. The Jayhawks could also bring in a transfer quarterback, or have Daniels back at the helm.
McComb threw for 3,009 yards, 29 touchdowns and 8 interceptions on 60.9% passing in 2023 . He also had 520 yards and 1 TD on the ground. Stats for his 2024 season were not immediately available.
“When he came to camp early, Jim Zebrowski (KU quarterback coach) really fell in love with his abilities, his potential, his makeup (and) his size,” Jayhawks coach Lance Leipold said. “He does all the things that we do offensively. He’s an extreme competitor. All the things you want in a quarterback.”
Holley is the only four-star recruit in KU’s class. The Michigan City, Indiana, commit picked Kansas over Cincinnati, Bowling Green, Minnesota and other schools.
He had 84 tackles, 12.5 sacks, four forced fumbles and two pass breakups last season. He is a four-star prospect by the 247Sports staff ratings and a three-star in the 247Sports Composite.
“He’s really a neat young man,” Leipold said. “He’s humble. ... Adrian might be the most appreciative guy about the opportunity to come to the University of Kansas that I might have had since I’ve been here.”
The Jayhawks will continue to recruit — via the transfer portal — as 38 players participated in senior day and will depart this year’s team.
