KU Jayhawks football vs. Oklahoma: Prediction, time, TV info for Saturday’s game

After a bye week, Kansas returns to action to face No. 6 Oklahoma (7-0, 4-0 Big 12) at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium on Saturday.

Before the off-week, the Jayhawks (5-2, 2-2) lost 39-32 to Oklahoma State, while Oklahoma survived a scare vs. UCF, winning 31-29.

Let’s break down this weekend’s matchup …

Game details

Kickoff: 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 28

Where: David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium (Lawrence, Kansas)

TV: FOX

Radio: Jayhawk Radio Network; WHB (810) in Kansas City

Betting Line: OU is a 10-point favorite

Prediction

It looks like another week without Jalon Daniels after KU coach Lance Leipold said Monday that the QB is “doubtful” to play Saturday.

Multiple reports on Thursday indicated Jason Bean will get the start. So an already tough matchup may be even more challenging.

KU’s offense will have to be near flawless for the Jayhawks to upset the Sooners. That means no turnovers, controlling the time of possession and establishing the run game. If Kansas’ run game is successful, it becomes much easier for Bean.

Meanwhile, Kansas’ defense must force turnovers and limit Oklahoma’s passing attack.

KU’s secondary will likely have a busy day. OU has four receivers with 300-plus yards and counting this season (Jalil Farooq, Drake Stoops, Andrel Anthony and Nic Anderson).

Not to mention, QB Dillion Gabriel has thrown for 2,131 yards and 19 touchdowns with just three interceptions. Kansas’ defense should focus on forcing Gabriel to make mistakes and preventing long drives.

Historically, Oklahoma has dominated KU, but the gap has narrowed the past two years.

A lot has to go right for the Jayhawks to win Saturday, so I lean toward Oklahoma.

Prediction: Oklahoma 38, Kansas 24

Shreyas’ pick to cover: OU (-10)

Shreyas’ record: 6-1

Shreyas’ record against the spread: 3-4.
