No. 24-ranked high school junior basketball player includes KU Jayhawks on his list
Micah Robinson, a 6-foot-6, 210-pound junior-to-be men’s basketball small forward from Greenhill School in Addison, Texas, has Kansas, Texas, Texas Tech, TCU, Arizona State, Texas A&M, SMU, Vanderbilt, Tennessee and others on his early list of schools.
Robinson, who is ranked No. 24 in the recruiting Class of 2024 according to Rivals.com, No. 47 by ESPN.com and No. 63 by 247sports.com, was born in Overland Park, Kansas and moved to Texas in the second grade.
Robinson was offered a scholarship by KU on March 4.
He told The Star in a direct Twitter message that he’s made unofficial visits to KU, Texas Tech and Texas A&M. He said he’s planning to use two of his official visits to Kansas and Texas Tech.
“The main thing, I’ve been a Kansas fan my whole life because I grew up there, so that’s a huge piece of it. Basketball wise, I know what they’ve done with people who have played my position, that have been through there. They get my position to the next level, and that’s ultimately where I want to go,” Robinson told Travis Graf of Rivals.com.
Robinson, whose dad attended Texas A&M, plays for Southern Assault on the Adidas 3SSB spring and summer AAU circuit.
“Robinson is a prospect that can blend into any team setting due to his versatility and willingness to play any role you ask him to,” wrote Graf of Rivals.com. “It seems as if Kansas might be the team to beat early on, but don’t sleep on any of the others, as Robinson seems quite open. Will he go back to his roots with Kansas, attend a Texas program or venture up to Tennessee and play for the Vols or Vanderbilt?” Graf added.
Papa Kante is considering Kansas
Papa Kante, a 6-10 senior-to-be center from South Kent (Connecticut) High School, has KU on his list of prospective colleges, according to Zagsblog.com.
Kante, the No. 127-ranked player in the recruiting Class of 2023 by Rivals.com and No. 133 by 247sports.com, visited Rutgers last weekend. The New York Rens AAU player will visit Maryland on May 16-17 and Michigan on June 14-16.
He’s also being recruited by KU, Miami, Michigan State, Seton Hall, Iowa, UConn, Georgetown, Syracuse, Tennessee, TCU, Georgia, Pitt and others.
“He’s a real student of the game and a sponge,” South Kent coach Raphael Chillious told Zagsblog.com. “He’s only been playing for three and a half years, but has picked the game up quickly because he’s a film junkie and an absolute gym rat. Defensively his motor is so high and he moves his feet so well, he can switch 1-5 defensively,” Chillious added
Kante is originally from Senegal, moving to the United States in October of 2019.
“When I stepped into the United States, I started to get serious about AAU and things like that. When I went to play in the EYBL and Peach Jam, it was a good experience because I got to play with a lot of good players,” Kante told Zagsblog.com.
