Kansas Jayhawks’ upcoming men’s basketball Barnstorming Tour events have been canceled
Kansas men’s basketball players’ Barnstorming Tour events Friday at Rockhurst High School, Saturday at Dodge City Civic Center and Sunday at Pembroke Hill School have been canceled, 6th Man Strategies has announced.
Scheduling conflicts with some KU players have resulted in the cancellations, Matt Baty of 6th Man Strategies said Wednesday night.
“Regretfully, we are unable to move forward with hosting the upcoming KU basketball Barnstorming Tour stops on Friday (Rockhurst), Saturday (Dodge City) and Sunday (Pembroke Hill). Several of our key student athletes have scheduling conflicts with pre-(NBA) Draft meetings, workouts and travel limitations. We want to ensure that fans attending these events are able to see all their favorite Jayhawks in person and that isn’t going to be possible this upcoming weekend,” Baty wrote in an email to advance ticket buyers.
Baty said those who purchased tickets would receive refunds “over the next few days.”
Barnstorming Tour events since the end of the 2021-22 season have been held at Wichita East High School, Hays High School and Blue Valley Northwest High School.
Baty said details will soon be released on a “virtual forum” opportunity for fans with KU players.
“Our hope is to connect and celebrate the players from the 2021-2022 KU basketball team with their fans throughout the state,” Baty wrote in an email to Barnstorming ticket holders. “For those that weren’t able to attend a Barnstorming Tour event, we will soon announce another option to engage with this year’s national championship team via an exclusive, virtual forum that will allow for live conversations, behind the scenes content, and a Q&A session. This exclusive opportunity will also include players that have not been present at previous Barnstorming Tour stops.”
There also have been preliminary plans to hold some Barnstorming Events that would include KU’s incoming players in June and July, 6th Man Strategies indicated recently.
Updates will be available at barnstormingtour.com and 6thmanstrategies.com.
