ABOUT OKLAHOMA STATE (18-14): Oklahoma State, which beat Iowa State, 72-71, in a first-round Big 12 tournament game on Wednesday, has won four games in a row, five of six and 7 of 10 following an 0-9 start to Big 12 play. Guard Isaac Likekele, who scored 21 points, hit a game-winning driving layup for the Pokes. Cameron McGriff contributed 17 points. ... OSU coach Mike Boynton is 2-5 versus KU. … McGriff is the only Cowboy to have started every game this season. In fact, McGriff has started 77 consecutive games for the Cowboys, which is the 10th longest streak in school history. … Cowboy senior captains Lindy Waters, Thomas Dziagwa and McGriff joined 2018 seniors Jeffrey Carroll and Mitchell Solomon as the only OSU players to win in every Big 12 road venue. Prior to Solomon and Carroll, the last OSU players to win in every conference road venue over the course of their careers were Bob Mattick, Tom Fuller and Dale Roark, the Class of 1954. … Barry Hinson, who worked as a member of Bill Self’s administrative staff at KU for four seasons, is an analyst on Boynton’s OSU staff. Hinson, a 1983 OSU graduate, has been a head coach at Oral Roberts, Missouri State, and Southern Illinois. …
ABOUT KANSAS (28-3): KU guard Marcus Garrett practiced on Wednesday at Sprint Center despite re-injuring his foot, which has been bothering him for several weeks now. “He’ll play,” coach Bill Self said of Thursday’s quarterfinal. “Him taking off will not make him 100%. We just have to hope he won’t roll it again. It will not feel great again until a month after the season is over.” … KU leads the all-time series against Oklahoma State, 118-59. The Jayhawks have won the last five games between the teams after dropping four of seven. … KU won both meetings between the schools this season, 65-50, on Jan. 27, in Stillwater, Oklahoma and 83-58 on Feb. 24 in Allen Fieldhouse. “McGriff is a matchup problem for just about anybody,” Self said. “Likekele is as good a guard as there is around, one of the best in our league. We got them twice. Oklahoma State is playing better now. Most people would say they are playing some of the best ball in our league right now.” ... Udoka Azubuike had 19 points and 16 boards in the game against OSU in Allen; Cameron McGriff 16 points for OSU. In Stillwater, Christian Braun hit four threes and had 16 points; McGriff had 18 points for OSU. … Self is 21-10 versus his alma mater as KU coach. … KU is 20-3 in Big 12 quarterfinal games. … KU is 42-10 in the Sprint Center covering 13 seasons. … Udoka Azubuike is No. 48 on KU’s all-time scoring chart, now with 1,069.
