K-State football recruit withdraws commitment to Wildcats and flips to Big 12 rival
Kansas State’s 2026 recruiting class lost one of its members over the weekend.
Brandon Ford, a three-star defensive back from Texas, has withdrawn his commitment to the Wildcats and flipped to a Big 12 rival. He now intends to play football for Mike Gundy and the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
Ford’s change of plans means that K-State now has 16 pledges instead of 17.
Ford was the first 2026 football recruit to commit to the Wildcats last fall. But other teams continued to recruit him, and he eventually changed course to Oklahoma State. He also held scholarship offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Houston, Nebraska, SMU, Texas Tech and others.
K-State did also receive some good news around Independence Day.
Tucker Ashford, a four-star defensive end from Fort Worth, announced his plans to play for the Wildcats on July 4.
He chose K-State over California, Houston, Illinois, Oklahoma State, Pittsburgh and other schools.
As things currently stand, K-State’s recruiting class for 2026 ranks 60th nationally and 12th in the Big 12, per On3.
