K-State basketball’s Coleman Hawkins lands with NBA team after going undrafted
Coleman Hawkins wasn’t selected in the NBA Draft earlier this week, but he has found a home with a professional team.
The former Kansas State Wildcats basketball player has landed with the Golden State Warriors. He will play for their NBA Summer League team and then participate in training camp before the 2025-26 season arrives.
That means Hawkins will have an opportunity to showcase his skills over the next few months and possibly earn a roster spot with the Warriors as an undrafted free agent.
Hawkins will get to stay close to home in this arrangement, as he grew up in Sacramento before playing college hoops at Illinois and then K-State.
Hawkins only spent one season in Manhattan, but it was an eventful one.
The 6-foot-10 forward averaged 10.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 4.3 assists on a team that finished with a losing record and missed out on the NCAA Tournament. But all eyes were on him while he was wearing purple, because he signed a then-record $2 million NIL deal to play at K-State.
A trio of other former K-State basketball players are also off to the NBA as undrafted free agents.
Arthur Kaluma has signed a deal with the Los Angeles Lakers. Cam Carter will play in the NBA Summer League for the San Antonio Spurs. And Selton Miguel will do the same with the Utah Jazz.
