Coveted recruit Ian Premer spurns K-State and Kansas for college football blue blood

The top-rated football recruit in the Sunflower State will be leaving home to play in college.

Ian Premer, a 6-foot-5 and 220-pound tight end from Great Bend, announced his plans to play for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish via social media Thursday.

“Here come the Irish,” he wrote on X.

In doing so the four-star recruit left fans disappointed at Kansas, K-State and Iowa State.

Premer visited KU, K-State, Iowa State and Notre Dame before making his final decision. Many local fans hoped he would pick the Jayhawks or the Wildcats. He appeared to have a good campus visit to Lawrence and K-State coaches pulled out all the stops to win him over when he was in Manhattan.

K-State thought so much of Premer that Chris Klieman offered him a scholarship to play football and Jerome Tang offered him a scholarship to play basketball.

The Wildcats were hoping to land coveted tight end recruits Linkon Cure and Premer in back-to-back recruiting cycles. But it wasn’t to be.

Premer ultimately committed to the biggest name of the bunch. In college, Premer will play for one of the most iconic brands of all time at Notre Dame. It isn’t close to home, but it is where he sees himself having the most success at the next level.
