Jerome Tang hires veteran coach Bill Peterson to Kansas State basketball staff

Kansas State men’s basketball coach Jerome Tang is adding a veteran assistant to his staff.
Bill Peterson, a longtime coach who has experience working at virtually every level of college and professional hoops, accepted a position with the Wildcats this week.
Peterson previously coached alongside Tang at Baylor from 2017-22 where they helped guide the Bears to a national championship in 2021.
He brings 47 years of coaching experience with him to Manhattan.
“I am fired up to have coach Bill Peterson as a part of our staff,” Tang said in a statement. “He brings a wealth of experience in both college and the NBA. Every coach, player, and person associated with K-State basketball will be better because of the addition of coach Bill Peterson.”
Peterson has 10 years of experience as a head coach at the NAIA and Division II levels. He also led a team in the NBA G League. He has worked as an assistant coach at Louisiana Tech, McNeese State, Bosier Parish Community College, Colorado State and Denver to go along with his stint at Baylor.
Furthermore, Peterson has served in various capacities in the NBA, including as special assistant with the Golden State Warriors, player development/scout with the Dallas Mavericks and assistant coach/player development with the Milwaukee Bucks. He has G League experience came with the Texas Legends and the Erie BayHawks.
“I am extremely excited to be joining Coach Tang’s staff at Kansas State,” Peterson said. “I have known Jerome Tang for the past eight years and have great respect and admiration for him and his family. The opportunity to work with him and his staff is a real blessing.”
Tang had two openings on his coaching staff following the departures of associate head coach Ulric Maligi to Texas and director of video/analytics Franklin Miskelly to Louisiana-Monroe.
