Two starters no longer listed on Kansas State’s depth chart ahead of Missouri game
The Kansas State football team made some notable changes to its depth chart Monday as the Wildcats began preparing for their upcoming game against Missouri.
A pair of starters are no longer listed on the two deep.
Taylor Poitier, a 6-foot-3 and 291-pound junior right guard, was removed from the depth chart after he suffered a lower-body injury during a 34-0 victory over South Dakota on Saturday. K-State coach Chris Klieman didn’t provide an update on his status afterward, but Poitier was unable to finish out the season-opener and spent the entire second half in the locker room.
That is not a good sign for his short-term availability. It is also unfortunate timing for him when you consider he missed all of last season because of an injury.
Hadley Panzer is expected to replace Poitier as a starter on the offensive line. Sam Hecht will slide in if he is needed as a backup.
Shawn Robinson, a 6-foot-2 and 231-pound senior linebacker, is also no longer listed on the depth chart. He was expected to share playing time with Khalid Duke in K-State’s first game, but he did not dress.
Robinson transferred to K-State from Missouri during the offseason. It appears as though he will not be ready to play against his former team.
Odds are high that Duke will once again start at linebacker with Desmond Purnell rotating in as a backup.
There was also some encouraging news on K-State’s new depth chart.
Senior safety Josh Hayes remains listed as the team’s starting strong safety despite not playing over the weekend. Backup safety TJ Smith, who also missed the South Dakota game, is still listed on the two deep.
That is potentially a good sign for their injury statuses moving forward. Klieman is expected to share more information on K-State injuries at his news conference on Tuesday.
