Kansas State Wildcats lose first football player to transfer portal this season

For the first time this season, Kansas State has lost a football player to the NCAA transfer portal.

Aamaris Brown, a 5-foot-10 sophomore defensive back, announced on Friday that he will no longer play for the Wildcats and continue his college career elsewhere.

“I would like to thank the Kansas State University, Coach Klieman and his staff for the opportunity to further my education and to play the game of football that I love,” Brown wrote on social media. “After much prayer and consideration with my family, I have decided to enter the transfer portal. To my teammates and the Kansas State University fans, thank you for your support.”

Brown’s departure is not viewed as a major loss for the Wildcats, but he did find ways to contribute on defense as a reserve this season. He played in all seven games for K-State and made six tackles.

Last season, Brown appeared in six games as a freshman and recorded nine tackles.

K-State has done an impressive job retaining the players that appeared on its opening day roster, despite Brown’s departure.

Before his announcement, K-State was one of just 19 teams nationally that hadn’t lost a player to the transfer portal since the 2021 football season began.
