KU, K-State football players join Wichita native Breece Hall on All-Big 12 team
Several football players with ties to the Sunflower State have been honored on The Associated Press’ All-Big 12 team.
Breece Hall, who grew up in Wichita before becoming a star running back at Iowa State, won offensive player of the year honors after rushing for 1,472 yards and 20 touchdowns this season.
He was joined on the All-Big 12 first team by K-State offensive tackle Cooper Beebe and defensive end Felix Anudike-Uzomah.
K-State running back Deuce Vaughn earned second-team all-conference honors after he rushed for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns this season. Vaughn was also effective as a receiver and caught 47 passes for 471 yards and three touchdowns this year.
Wildcats receiver Malik Knowles also earned second-team honors as an all-purpose player. Safety Russ Yeast ended up on the second-team defense.
Junior safety Kenny Logan was the lone representative for the Jayhawks on the team. He earned a spot on the second-team defense after making 78 tackles this season.
Baylor’s Dave Aranda was Big 12 coach of the year. Baylor safety Jalen Pitre won Big 12 defensive player of the year. Texas receiver Xavier Worthy is the Big 12 newcomer of the year.
