Kansas City Comets update: Team’s annual Pink Game for charity is Saturday evening
The Kansas City Comets return to action Saturday at 6 p.m. against the Chihuahua Savage.
The Comets (9-1-0) lead the MASL Central Division and are unbeaten in four games at home. They’re riding a three-game win streak and averaging 7.9 goals per game.
Chihuahua (1-5-2) is in fourth place in the Western Division and is coming off its first win of the season (against the Milwaukee Wave). The Savage play Friday in St Louis before making their first appearance at Cable Dahmer Arena in Independence.
Annual Pink Game
The Comets will be wearing special Capelli Sport pink jerseys Saturday night. The jerseys will be auctioned off after the game, with proceeds benefiting The Ali Kemp Educational Foundation (T.A.KE.).
T.A.K.E. is offering a free self-defense class for girls and women on the field before the match. Each participant will receive a complimentary ticket to the game. For more information and to register, visit www.kccomets.com/pink-game.
Roster moves
The Comets made four roster moves recently involving midfielder Henry Ramirez, defenders Kyle McLagan Matt Lewis and goalkeeper Mark Saxby.
Ramirez featured in the first three games of the season before injuring his ACL. He will miss the remainder of the year.
Losing McLagan was expected — he’ll join Vikingur FC in Iceland, where he’ll have a chance to play in that team’s Champions League qualifiers. He’d tallied three goals and an assist in five games with KC.
Lewis, who had recorded two goals and four assists in his five appearances, returned to Detroit City FC, while Saxby announced his retirement after four years with the Comets.
