Here’s what’s going on with the Kansas City Mavericks minor-league hockey team this week.

The Mavs are coming off a three-for-three week, with a trio of wins in as many matches.

Three for three

The Mavericks (21-21-1) beat the Tulsa Oilers 2-1 at Cable Dahmer Arena in Independence last Tuesday.

Forward Darik Angeli scored the game-winner on his 100th ECHL goal.

Next up was the Rapid City Rush. On Friday, the Mavericks beat the Rush 4-3 behind Angeli’s first hat trick of the season. The Mavs won (2-0) on Saturday, too, with goaltender Daniil Chechelev registering his first pro shutout.

Player streaks

Veteran forward and alternate captain Angeli is riding a four-game point streak.

He racked up seven points on six goals and one assist during that span. In 35 games this season, he has 42 points on 19 goals and 23 assists, and he currently leads the team in goals, points and power-play goals.

Chechelev went 2-0-0 last week, posting the shutout against Rapid City and a 0.50 goals-against average and .988 save percentage. On Tuesday, he was honored as the ECHL’s Goaltender of the Week. He has appeared in 19 games this season, with a record of 9-8-1.

Upcoming games

The Mavericks are in Texas this week for three games against the Allen Americans — Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Home games ahead

The Mavs’ next home game, on Tuesday, Feb. 15, against Allen, features a double promotion: it’s Raytown Night and Hockey Bingo Night.

The Mavericks play host to Allen again the following evening, Feb. 16, before welcoming in the Idaho Steelheads for Retro Night, when the first 2,000 fans will receive a retro Mavs bobblehead.
