Here’s what is going on with the Kansas City Mavericks minor-league hockey team this week, with a recap of recent ECHL games and a preview of what promises to be a big weekend at home.

The Mavericks lost a pair of road games to the Idaho Steelheads last Friday and Saturday, 4-1 and 3-2.

Upcoming games, events

The Mavericks got back on their home ice Tuesday to play the Tulsa Oilers for “Blue Springs Night.”

This weekend, the Mavericks play host to the Rapid City Rush on Friday and Saturday.

Friday is “Date Night”: the first 500 fans receive sterling silver ball earrings courtesy of Kennedy’s Custom Jewelers. One lucky fan will receive diamond stud earrings valued at $2,000.

On Saturday, the Mavs will celebrate mascot Mac’s birthday by wearing special jerseys, and other Kansas City-area mascots are expected to be in attendance.

On Sunday, some of the Mavericks players will take part in a meet-and-greet at Park Place from 1:30-3:30 p.m.
