Betting on the Super Bowl? Here are the odds - and some wacky prop bets on offer
While the Kansas City Chiefs won’t be in their third-straight Super Bowl, there’s still a great match-up between the AFC champion Cincinnati Bengals and NFC champion Los Angeles Rams on Feb. 13.
It’s a big day for risk-takers, as this is one of the biggest sporting events for gambling. Millions of people will take a chance to try and win some money on the big game.
So what can you bet on? Nothing if you’re from Missouri and Kansas, as sports betting is illegal in these states.
But, if you were to travel to Las Vegas or Iowa, you can bet on anything your heart desires, like who will win and what color Gatorade the players will dump on the winning coach’s head.
If you’re looking for a winner, the Rams are the favorite with a spread of -4.5 and the odds in their favor at -110.
If you’re looking for bets on things like the color of Gatorade poured, it’s known as a prop bet, which is a wager that doesn’t depend on the game’s outcome. You can bet on anything, like a player’s individual performance or which celebrities will be on the broadcast.
These are some popular prop bets you can expect:
Who will score a touchdown? This one can happen at any time throughout the game, even if one of the teams is losing by 30 points in the fourth quarter.
Will the coin toss land on heads or tails? The odds are even for this prop bet.
Will the Super Bowl’s Most Valuable Player thank their family, teammates or God first? Every MVP is interviewed after they win and the chances of the winner thanking all three are high, but who knows which one will come first.
How long will it take Mickey Guyton to sing the national anthem? Alicia Keys holds the record for the longest anthem at two minutes and 35 seconds. Will Guyton break it?
Will you end up on top? Take a chance and bet on it.
