KC Mavericks looking forward to New Year’s Eve home showdown against Wichita Thunder

Coming off an overtime victory over the Iowa Heartlanders last weekend and 3-2 loss at Iowa on Monday, the Kansas City Mavericks ECHL minor-league hockey team is looking forward to a New Year’s Eve home game against the Wichita Thunder.

Weekend recap

The Mavericks traveled to Iowa to take on the Heartlanders on Sunday. The Mavs won 6-5 in overtime, with Darik Angeli scoring the game-winning goal. The Mavs were back in Iowa for Monday’s contest, a 3-2 loss.

Upcoming games

The Mavericks return to Cable Dahmer Arena in Independence on New Year’s Eve — Friday — to play host to Wichita. Puck drops at 7:05 p.m. The Mavericks will be wearing specialty jerseys for the game, and a post-game skate will follow the ECHL match.

On Saturday, the Mavericks travel to Wichita to face the Thunder on their home ice. Game time is 7:05.
