The Kansas City Mavericks lost two of three in Utah over the weekend but are back in action Wednesday at Iowa.

Here’s what is going on with the local minor-league hockey team this week, including recent results and their upcoming schedule.

Weekend recap

The Mavericks played a three-game road set against the Utah Grizzlies on Friday-Sunday. Goaltender Daniil Chechelev made his North American pro debut Friday as the Mavs took down the Grizzlies 5-2.

On Saturday and Sunday, the Mavs lost 4-2 games to Utah.

Upcoming games

The Mavericks play the Heartlanders in Coralville, Iowa on Wednesday at 7 p.m. On Friday, they play host to the Rapid City Rush from South Dakota at 7:05 p.m.

Kids wearing their youth sports T-shirt/jersey can get one free ticket for that game at the Cable Dahmer Arena box office. And the Salvation Army will be kicking off its Red Kettle drive at the arena that evening, and a brass band will perform pre-game holiday carols.

The Mavs also play host to the Rush at 7:05 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 30.

Sponsor a family

Through a partnership with the “Best Christmas Ever” giving campaign, the Mavs are sponsoring a local family for the holidays. Fans can get on board with this effort, too.

Throughout Friday night’s home game against the Rush, attendees of the game can make financial donations to, or donate presents for, the sponsored family. Look for the Mavs’ promotions table behind Section 112 at the arena.
