Out or safe? You make the call on Royals replay challenge

This new-fangled replay thing is not working out so great for the Royals.

After the Tigers challenged a pair of calls in Wednesday's game in Detroit and won both, the Royals challenged a call in Friday's home opener against the White Sox.

In the seventh inning, Chicago had a runner at first with none out in the seventh inning. Jose Abreu grounded to third baseman Mike Moustakas, whose throw pulled first baseman Eric Hosmer off the bag.

Or did it?

That's what Royals manager Ned Yost wanted to know when he challenged the call. The replay officials in New York didn't overturn the call, but it wasn't a terrible outcome for the Royals, who won 7-5.

Here's a closer look at the play from slow-motion video from MLB.com.
