KC faces dangerous -5 degree temps, snow clean up continues: Live updates

Kansas City is in the midsth of a major winter storm, with several inches of snow expected and cold temperatures sticking around after the flakes fall.

Between 4 and 6 inches of snow is forecast, but it won’t all arrive at once. Instead, the snow will spread out over the weekend in a couple of waves, with a break in the middle.

“So the first chunk is going to come on Saturday morning,” said Brad Temeyer, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Kansas City. “Then we may see a break in the midday hours, even into Saturday afternoon, before the second chunk kind of works its way in.”

How much snow you see will depend on where you live. Higher totals are likely in the south of the metro, with lower amounts in the north.

Follow along as Star journalists bring you updates on the weather and how the winter storm is affecting the metro area.
