Snow squalls, showers to continue across Kansas City Metro through Saturday morning
Bursts of heavy snow showers and snow squalls will continue to move through the Kansas City metropolitan area Friday evening, according to the National Weather Service.
Snow was initially forecast to spread northwest to southeast across the region between 2 and 8 p.m., the weather service said in a statement Friday.
As of 8:10 p.m., scattered snow showers were located along a line from Axtell to St. Marys to the west of Alma and Clifton, according to a special weather statement from the National Weather Service.
Wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour may be possible, the weather service said in the statement. Visibility could drop to less than a quarter of a mile during snow showers.
Looking ahead, isolated snow showers may continue until around 4 a.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service forecast. On Saturday, the day will be mostly sunny with a high near 22 degrees. Winds will be up to 10 to 14 miles per hour.
When driving through snow showers, drivers should use caution, reduce driving speed and turn on vehicle headlights, according to a post from the National Weather Service on X, formerly Twitter.
