After first freeze, what’s ahead for Kansas City’s weather this week?

After braving its first freeze of the season over the weekend, Kansas City will warm up this week, with little chance of rain in the forecast, according to the National Weather Service.

The Kansas City area had its first freeze of the season on Sunday when temperatures dropped to 26 degrees. The metro typically sees its first freeze between Oct. 21 and 27.

After dipping into the upper 30s at Kansas City International Airport early Monday, temperatures will bounce back to the mid-60s on Monday thanks to a high-pressure system over the region that will bring sunny days, the weather service said.

The warm-up continues this week, with the warmest days expected to be Tuesday and Thursday, when temperatures climb to the low to mid-70s. Overnight temperatures are expected to be in the mid- to low 50s. In Kansas City, temperatures typically range from a low in the upper 30s to the upper 50s in early November.

It will be quite windy on Tuesday, as south to southwesterly winds will gust up to 30 mph.

There could be some rain later in the week, but the better chances will be east of U.S. 65 in central Missouri, outside of the Kansas City area, the weather service said. Some weather models hint that rain could reach the metro, but most forecasts still show the bulk of the rain staying farther east.

The weekend is expected to mostly sunny to sunny, with highs in the mid-60s on Saturday and the 50s on Sunday.
