Light rain possible as Kansas City waits on fall weather in October

Some areas around Kansas City could see a light drizzle of rain Tuesday while temperatures stay well above seasonal norms, according to the National Weather Service.

A few light showers are possible in areas of northeast Kansas and northwest Missouri. It is expected to be a mostly cloudy day with a high temperature near 77 degrees, according to the forecast.

Areas most likely to see rain Tuesday are west of Interstate 35, the weather service said.

“What there isn’t a chance of today, or anytime this week, is Fall!” the National Weather Service said on social media.

Temperatures are forecast to be well above normal Wednesday through Friday, with highs each day in the upper 70s and mid 80s.

At this point in the season, high temperatures in that range are around 15–20 degrees above normal, the weather service said.

Friday storm chances

A cold front is expected to make its way into Kansas City Friday, bringing with it a chance for showers and thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service.

Strong storms are possible, but severe weather is not likely, meteorologists said in a Tuesday morning forecast discussion.

The cold front may help bring cooler temperatures overnight Friday and limit Saturday’s high temperature to the mid 70s, the forecast shows.
