Overnight storms soaked parts of the Kansas City area, with the heaviest rains falling in Wyandotte County and the Northland, according to storm gauges across the metro.

Meanwhile, some folks probably woke up wondering about all the hype.

The heaviest rain fell in Kansas City, Kansas, with nearly 2.3 inches reported near Lake Welborn at North 48th Street and Leavenworth Road in Kansas City, Kansas, according to 24-hour rainfall data as of 6 a.m. Friday from StormWatch.com, a collection of rain gauges across the Kansas City metro.

Meanwhile, 1.86 inches of rain fell near F.L. Schlagle Stadium near Parallel Parkway and Meadowlark Lane in Kansas City, Kansas; 1.5 inches at near Northeast Englewood and Northeast Antioch roads in Kansas City, North, and 1.46 inches near northeast 42nd Terrace and Northeast Chouteau Trafficway in Kansas City, North.

Areas south of Interstate 70 received considerably less rain, with many areas recording less than .25 of an inch of rain.

At Kansas City International Airport, about an inch of rain fell in the 24 hours ending at 7 a.m. Friday. Meanwhile, 1.02 of an inch fell at the Wheeler Downtown Airport, .22 of an inch at Johnson County Executive Airport, .13 of an inch at NewCentury Air Center and .05 at Lee’s Summit Municipal Airport.
