Kansas City’s warmest weekend yet. When will it rain next?
The weather in Kansas City is setting up to make for a beautiful, dry spring weekend, as there will be plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures, according to the National Weather Service.
The only negative thing in the forecast is that wind gust speeds are expected to be in the mid- to upper 20s on Saturday and Sunday.
Temperatures will be normal on Friday, climbing to 64 degrees in the afternoon.
But a warm-up is coming for the weekend, with temperatures climbing to the mid-70s on Saturday and the mid to upper 80s on Sunday, according to the weather service.
If temperatures hit 80 degrees this weekend, it will be the first time this year, which is slightly behind schedule. The first 80-degree day typically occurs on April 4, the weather service said on social media.
Kansas City’s next chance for rain
The warm-up, however, will be short-lived, the weather service said. A cold front will push across Missouri late Sunday into Monday, sending temperatures back to normal to start the workweek.
There is a slight chance, less than 25%, for rain as that front moves through the area. The weather service said dry air may prevent the rain from reaching the ground.
The best rain chances come mid to late in the week. There is a moderate chance, 20-50%, for showers and thunderstorms Wednesday through Thursday night. However, it’s not expected to rain the entire time, the weather service said.
The weather service said the exact timing and intensity of the storms are still uncertain.
Temperatures next week will be in the mid- to upper 60s on Monday and Tuesday and the 70s on Wednesday and Thursday.
