KC will be warmer than usual before temps swing in other direction. How cold will it get?
Enjoy the warmer-than-usual weather while you can, Kansas City. According to the National Weather Service, colder temperatures are on their way for the end of the work week.
“One more mild day is expected today with highs (temperatures) in the mid 40s to mid 50s,” the weather service said of Tuesday’s weather.
In the metro, temperatures will be around 52 degrees on Tuesday, well above the average of 42 degrees for this time of year.
A cold front will pass through the area overnight, bringing the chance for drizzle or light rain showers east of the Kansas City metropolitan area, the weather service said.
Temperatures to seesaw back and forth
Cooler air moves in behind the cold front overnight, the weather service said.
“High temperatures for tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon should be close to seasonal normals, ranging from the mid-30s to the lower 40s, with clouds likely finally clearing out by the afternoon,” the weather service said.
Temperatures will rebound Thursday, climbing to around 50 degrees.
Cold front brings frigid air to Kansas City
A cold front is expected to enter far northwest Missouri by late Thursday afternoon and push east and southeastward before clearing the Kansas City forecast area by midnight.
The front will leave behind frigid temperatures.
“Cold temperatures paired with breezy northwesterly winds should yield minimal wind chills in the single digits for most locations Friday morning,” the weather service said. “Friday afternoon highs (temperatures) will likely remain at or below freezing for almost all of the” Kansas City forecast area.
Temperatures should recover this weekend, climbing to the high 30s on Saturday and around 43 degrees on Sunday.
Other than a slight chance for drizzle and light rain for areas east of the Kansas City metro on Tuesday night, dry conditions are likely to prevail through the weekend, the weather service said.
