How much rain did Kansas City get in overnight storms? See totals for your area

Storms blew through the Kansas City area from Tuesday evening into Wednesday, but the amount of rain that came in overnight varied across the metro.

While severe thunderstorm warnings blanketed areas north of the river, the most rain occurred to the south on the Kansas side.

On Wednesday and Thursday, the hotter-than-average temperatures are expected to continue in the Kansas City area, with highs in the upper 80s to mid-90s and heat index up to the triple digits, according to the National Weather Service in Kansas City. Scattered thunderstorms are possible again Thursday night.

The heat is expected to back off in time for Labor Day weekend, with highs in the upper 70s to mid-80s.

  • 1.55 inches: Leavenworth
  • 1.07 inches: Olathe’s New Century AirCenter
  • 0.47 inches: Lenexa
  • 0.47 inches: Raymore
  • 0.38 inches: Kansas City International Airport
  • 0.21 inches: Smithville Lake
  • 0.11 inches: Kansas City’s Downtown Airport
