‘Quite lovely’: Kansas City to get a taste of autumn to go along with that pumpkin spice
Rain showers, maybe an isolated thunderstorm, will be possible Monday as a cold front pushes through the Kansas City area, ushering in autumn-like temperatures, according to the National Weather Service.
Early Monday morning, the front extended from the Kansas City International Airport east to around Kirksville, Missouri, and was expected to saunter south through the area during the day, the weather service said.
Although a thunderstorm or two could develop, most of the storms were expected to trail the passing front, keeping any precipitation as mainly showers, the weather service said in its forecast discussion.
The showers are expected to be scattered to isolated. Areas that do see showers will likely receive only .10 to .25 of an inch of rain, the weather service said.
The chance for rain is expected to continue into the afternoon before moving out of the area by the evening.
The front will usher in much cooler temperatures which will be around 10 degrees below normal. Near 70-degree temperatures are expected in Kansas City on Monday. Normally, temperatures are 81 degrees this time of year in Kansas City.
With the end of summer still more than a week away, the Kansas City area will get a taste of autumn as cooler than normal temperatures are expected to last through at least Friday, the weather service said.
”Quite lovely,” is how the National Weather Service in Kansas City described this week’s weather in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The Kansas City area can expect “generally tranquil weather with afternoon highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s for the rest of the week,” the weather service said.
Most of the week is expected to remain dry, with the next chance for rain coming on Saturday. Temperatures for the weekend will range from the mid-70s to near 80 degrees.
