Lightning could threaten outdoor activities on second day of NFL 2023 Draft in KC

Football fans may want to grab a raincoat as they head to Union Station and the north lawn of the National World War I Memorial and Museum for the second day of the NFL 2023 Draft on Friday.

Showers and isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms will be possible Friday afternoon and evening in the Kansas City area, according to the National Weather Service.

No severe storms are expected, but lightning from the thunderstorms is a possible threat for any outdoor activities, the weather service said.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop between 2 and 3 p.m. across the region. In the Kansas City metro area, the greatest chance for thunderstorms will be between 4 and 7 p.m., the weather service said in its forecast discussion.
