Fans headed to the NFL Draft in Kansas City might need to pack a light jacket and rain gear as cooler weather and widespread rain is possible at the end of the week, according to the National Weather Service.

The week got off to a chilly start Monday, with temperatures falling to the mid-30s at Kansas City International Airport. Meanwhile, northeast Missouri was under a freeze warning.

Conditions are expected to rebound by Monday afternoon, climbing into the mid-60s for a pleasant day, according to the weather service. This time of year in Kansas City, temperatures generally are in the upper 60s.

Temperatures for the rest of the week, however, will be slightly below normal. Conditions will be in the low 60s on Tuesday and the mid-60s on Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures on Friday and Saturday will be in the mid- to upper 50s.

There will also be several chances for rain, with light showers possible in northern Missouri Monday night into Tuesday morning and again on Wednesday.

The best chance for widespread rain showers and some thunderstorms, however, will be Friday and Saturday. Winter-like weather is unlikely despite below normal temperatures, the weather service said.

The first day of the NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday at Union Station in Kansas City and continues into Saturday.
