Severe thunderstorm warning issued for northern parts of Kansas City metro: NWS
The National Weather Service on Monday evening issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northern parts of the Kansas City area, including Platte City, Weston and Farley.
Winds as high as 60 mph and quarter-sized hail were among the hazards listed by the weather service as the storm was set to pass through Kansas and touch the northern part of the metropolitan area. The severe thunderstorm warning was scheduled to remain in effect until 6:15 p.m.
The Monday storm comes as Kansas City is predicted to see spring showers over the next week that could bring additional weather events. The weather service warned earlier in the day of sporadic storms on the horizon that could bring flooding to the area.
The chance for showers and thunderstorms returns early Tuesday afternoon, sticking around through the evening hours, according to the weather service. Rain remains in the forecast Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
