Rain in forecast for much of week in Kansas City; some risk of local flooding
Two weeks out from summer, Kansas City is poised to see plenty of spring showers over the next week.
The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for the Kansas City area beginning Monday as rain rolls in and out of the region over the next few days.
While severe weather is not currently in the forecast, there is still a risk of rising waters in flood-prone areas of the metro.
After Monday morning’s showers move through the city, Kansas Citians can put their umbrellas away for about 24 hours. The chance for showers and thunderstorms returns early Tuesday afternoon, sticking around through the evening hours, according to the weather service.
Rain remains in the forecast Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. But as of Monday morning, the weekend forecast looks sunny and clear, offering some reprieve from the spring showers.
While the rain may seem unpredictable this week, the temperatures will stay steady, with highs near 80 degrees most of the week before cooling off slightly this weekend. Overnight lows are set to hover in the 60s.
