A winter storm that is expected to cut through the Midwest mid-week could bring accumulating snow that could have a significant impact on the Kansas City area, the National Weather Service in Kansas City said.

However, there is a lot of uncertainty in the forecast. Warmer air could affect how quickly rain transitions over to snow and the track of the storm is not certain.

The weather service is hoping to have a better indication on how the impending storm will affect travel in the Kansas City region within the next 24 hours.

For now, the weather service is expecting around four inches of snow in the Kansas City metro.
