Plenty of sunshine likely in Kansas City; patchy frost next week in northern Missouri

The Kansas City area will be treated with pleasant weather as plenty of sunshine and warmer temperatures are expected Thursday, according to FOX4 meteorologist Karli Ritter.

“Later today we will be topping out in the lower 80s,” said Ritter who provides weather updates to The Star. “We’ll have plenty of sunshine to get us through the day today and it’s going to be pretty nice outside with not a ton of humidity.”

It will feel warmer when compared to the last couple of days, Ritter said.

“It does look like as we head through the next several of days we are going to be talking about a nice little summer surge with mid- and upper 80s likely.”

There’s a chance for rain on Sunday followed by much cooler next week, with highs expected in the 60s on Tuesday and Wednesday, she said.

The National Weather Service in Kansas City said the temperatures will be a roller coaster ride heading into next week. Highs could reach the 90s in some areas on Friday and Saturday with much cooler weather in the forecast for next week.

Some areas could see overnight lows in the middle to upper 30s. Some areas in northern Missouri could see patchy frost mid to late next week, the weather service said.

The average high for this time of year in Kansas City is 76 with the average low of 54 degrees.

October will get off to a chilly start.
