Morning mist, drizzle then afternoon rains will make for a soggy day in Kansas City

Keep that rain gear and those umbrellas handy as Friday will be another wet day in the Kansas City metro, said FOX4 meteorologist Karli Ritter.

“We’re expecting another soggy day today,” said Ritter, who provides weather updates to The Star.

“Mist and drizzle will be in the forecast throughout the morning with the possibility for rain to pick up in intensity and widespread rain is expected during the afternoon and early evening.”

The rain is not expected to be much of an issue Friday morning. But around 3 and 4 p.m., the storms start to fill into the metro area.

“As we approach 6, 7 and 8 o’clock, all of that will be shifting off to the east with a drier forecast heading our way for” Saturday, Ritter said.

The wet weather conditions will leave Kansas City with lower than average temperatures. Highs are expected to be in the low 60s, she said.

The average high for this time of year in the Kansas City area is 81 degrees with the average low of 59 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Kansas City.

“We are expecting a warmer forecast heading into parts of the weekend,” Ritter said. “Highs will be flirting with 80 degrees several days and then eventually by Tuesday into Wednesday we’ll popping up into the 80s.”
