Cold front to bring brief relief from heat, humidity in Kansas City ahead of Labor Day

While Thursday will have a warm start, the weather will become more comfortable by the evening, according to FOX4 meteorologist Joe Lauria.

“Temperatures may actually drop a couple of degrees before 3 o’clock, and the humidity levels will become a lot more comfortable,” said Laurie, who provides weather updates to The Star.

Laurie said this is because of a cold front headed through the area.

“Once that front moves through, you’ll know it because the winds will pick up out of the north at 15 to 20 miles per hour,” he said.

The pleasant weather will continue into Friday, but it won’t last long.

“Come Saturday, especially Saturday afternoon, it’s going to get thick out there,” Laurie said.

The heat and humidity will stick around through the Labor Day holiday Monday.

The next chance for rain will come after Monday afternoon, followed by cooler temperatures next Wednesday and Thursday as the highs drop into the low 70s, Laurie said.
