Thunderstorms expected in Kansas City Monday and Tuesday after sunny weather Sunday
Sunday is shaping up to be sunny and dry ahead of more storms expected to hit Kansas City early next week.
“I’m not sure we could order up better Sunday weather if we wanted,” the National Weather Service tweeted.
Sunday afternoon could see high temperatures in the low 80s.
“Off and on storms move in late late tonight, and may offer a few rumbles of thunder Monday morning, the weather service tweeted. “More rain chances in the forecast, moving forward into Tuesday and Wednesday.”
Thunderstorms are likely Monday and Tuesday, with the greatest chance of rain after 4 a.m. Monday, after 1 a.m. Tuesday, before 1 p.m. Tuesday, and again Tuesday night, according to the National Weather Service.
Once the bouts of rain clear Tuesday night, the rest of the week is expected to by sunny and dry.
Recent Saturday storms broke a 16-day dry streak in Kansas City, the weather service tweeted. It was also the first time in seven days that the temperature didn’t exceed 90 degrees, a trend that looks like it’s going to continue.
Overnight lows are going to be in the mid-60s most of the week. The warmest days will come Wednesday and Thursday with highs of 84. The rest of the week will stay in the upper 70s and low 80s through the start of Labor Day weekend.
