Rain and thunderstorms to bring cooler temperatures to Kansas City early this week

Starting Sunday and continuing for the next few days, scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will move though the Kansas City area, bringing cooler temperatures, according to FOX4 meteorologist Alex Countee.

But after the rain moves out this week, temperatures are expected to heat up again, said Countee, who provides weather updates to The Star.

On Sunday the high temperature is expected to reach 91 degrees by about 3 p.m. or 4 p.m. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to show up in the Kansas City area along and south of Interstate 70.

Later Sunday night there will be chances for stronger storms, but the rain should be scattered by 6 a.m. Monday. The rain could start again later in the day.

“Over the next few days, with a stationary right front over Kansas City, we’re probably just going to see waves of on-and-off, or scattered, showers and thunderstorms late today, overnight tonight and that continues Monday and Tuesday for sure,” Countee said.

High temperatures are expected to be 83 on Monday and 86 on Tuesday.

Chances for rain will likely slack off Wednesday into Thursday. Then, temperatures will rise again.

Highs are expected to reach 91 Wednesday, 92 Thursday, 93 Friday and 94 Saturday.
