Hot weather to continue across KC with heat index expected to near 100 on Tuesday

Sweltering temperatures will continue for the next couple of days in Kansas City, according to FOX4 meteorologist Joe Lauria.

Tuesday’s high is 92 with the heat index hitting 95 to 100 degrees in the afternoon.

“Hot weather continues into Wednesday as well,” said Lauria, who provided a weather update to The Star.

Wednesday’s high is 93, but Thursday will be a bit cooler with a high of 84.

Late Wednesday and into Thursday morning “a complex of thunderstorms will be dropping out of Nebraska and may threaten us on Thursday with rain around here, especially during the first part of the day,” Lauria said.

The system will bring the potential for heavy rain and strong winds.

Another chance for rain will arrive heading into Friday morning.

“We’ve got several opportunities for rain Thursday, Friday and Saturday — that’s when the pattern will start to break down,” Lauria said. “Clouds on Thursday and Friday may impact the high temperatures so that would be some good news as you make your plans, trying to get a little break from the summertime heat.”

Things warm up again early next week.

“It may get downright toasty around here as we go through next week,” Lauria said.
