High temperatures in the weather forecast for Kansas City over July Fourth weekend
The weather forecast for the Kansas City area heading into the Fourth of July weekend calls for temperatures in the 90s and scattered chances for rain, according to FOX4 meteorologist Karli Ritter.
Temperatures on Thursday will reach about 79 by 10 a.m. before climbing to 85 about noon and 90 by about 4 p.m., according to Ritter, who provides weather updates to The Star.
Friday will see a slightly better chance for rain, Ritter said.
“We are anticipating a muggy feel to the air as well,” Ritter said. “Overnight into tomorrow, we’ll be watching for those scattered rain or thunderstorm chances, but the rest of forecast, including the Fourth of July holiday should be dry, and we stay with 90s for afternoon highs.”
Part of the area south of Kansas City will be under a heat advisory Thursday afternoon. In Kansas City, the heat index will be in the upper 90s and close to 100 degrees.
The high temperature is forecast to reach 90 on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Temperatures are expected to climb to 91 on Sunday, 92 on Monday and 93 on Tuesday.
